Jake Owen, Old Dominion and RaeLynn will perform a free live concert just ahead of this year’s CMA Music Festival and the CMT Music Awards. Hosted by streaming-music service Pandora, the third annual Sounds Like Country concert will take place Tuesday, June 6th, at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works.
On May 31st, Pandora will unveil an artist-curated Sounds Like Country mixtape, featuring a selection of the artists’ favorite tunes and personalized audio messages. Live recorded tracks from the Sounds Like Country concert will be available when the station is refreshed on June 14th. Pandora’s first free listener event took place in 2015 and featured Thompson Square, Dustin Lynch and Kelsea Ballerini.
Last year’s nearly four-hour concert was highlighted by performances from Brent Cobb, Kip Moore, Tyler Farr and Cam, and was hosted by Nashville actress and singer Clare Bowen. Moore’s high-energy set was a highlight of last year’s concert, which included Moore’s demand that the crowd put away their mobile devices during his 45-minute set – a point he made by snatching the phone from a spectator in the front row, then singing directly to her.
With more than 1.7 billion spins, Jake Owen is in the 99th percentile of all artists in Pandora station adds, while Today’s Country is the streaming service’s second most-played station, with 55 million of its 78 million active monthly listeners having tuned in to the station.
The CMT Music Awards take place June 7th, with Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan among those set to perform. The CMA Music Festival begins the following day and runs through June 11th.
